Swiss Alps - Jungfrau
The Tour of the Jungfrau Region in central Switzerland is one of the classic walks in the European Alps. Covering 111 kilometers, this multiday hut-to-hut trek travels clockwise from above Interlaken, bordering great mountains such as the Jungfrau, Eiger, Mönch etc. We will stay at mountain huts perched high for long views of the mountain range, with either private rooms or dormitories, and food and drink. We will traverse through famous Swiss villages such as Grindelwald and Gimmelwald. More cowbells please! Since the Bernese Oberland district gets more rain and fog than most of its neighboring high mountain regions, the best time to go is late summer. In the middle of the journey, weather permitting, we will hike the Eiger Trail with the North Face of the Eiger above us to Eigergletscher. That day or the next day we will take the Jungfraujoch, Switzerland's highest railway to see fantastic views at 11,332 ft. After the trek, Paris is on the itinerary before returning home.
