Roundwood

The Coach House sits some 3 km off the route. In many places on the Way, the lodging is down in the valley adding distance to already long days. The cuisine is good with lamb shank, cod fish and chips, and Irish Stew to name a few. And of course who can start a day without a full Irish breakfast including baked beans?

To Lough Tay, Wicklow County

A stone overlooking Lough Tay honors JB Malone who pioneered The Wicklow Way starting in 1966 in a huge effort to gain access to public and private lands for the long distance trail.

Djouce mountain

Continuing south, traverse the delicate White Hill flanking Djouce Mtn with views of the Irish Sea, and even Wales, on a clear day.

Wicklow Mountains National Park

Over hill and dale, some exposed sections but on a sunny day the views are magnificent.

Glaskenny

About 13 miles after leaving the outskirts of Dublin, leave the mountain trail and head toward the country village of Glaskenny.

The Wicklow Way

May weather in Ireland seems perfect for walking the coastal mountains south of Dublin to Clonegal over the next week. With the sun periodically coming out and temps in the high 50s the green hills come alive. Trail is well-marked but pick up a topo anyway just in case you miss a sign. Prominent Sugar Loaf Mountain makes an excellent way mark.
